"Once again, I would like to thank you for including Allison in your play,
In Our Hands Now!  Allison is a talented young lady & it was wonderful for her to have the chance to perform with her peers.

The theme of the play itself, about REAL students, is a perfect place to include students like Allison, as herself, who may have a disability - but still have talent & A-Bility. I know that Allison felt very involved & a 'part' of a group, which sometimes does not happen to students who are blind or visually impaired.

In visiting with other students who were in the play, I know that they also benefitted in getting to know Allison as someone besides 'the blind kid'. She became a person to them, & I feel it helped them understand her on a whole new level. I was impressed in the way that ALL of the cast seemed to be involved in working with Allison to get her where she needed to go when she needed to be there.

I personally felt as though the part of Tabitha was written just for Allison. How perfect the comments about 'being different' fit with a student with special needs. I also listened to audience comments during intermission and at the end of the play. They were impacted by Allison's ability to perform as she did with the rest of the cast. I cannot tell you enough how much this performance meant to Allison & I would encourage you to share your experience with any other schools or directors who might be considering putting on this performance. I felt it was beneficial to the other students, the audience & especially to Allison.

Please feel free to give my name and/or email address to anyone who might have questions about any of my comments or would like input on how to best relate to a student with a visual disability.

Thank you again for giving Allison this opportunity and for providing me with a pleasurable evening. You have made a difference!"
