CHORUS A:
Swing to your soul's calling.
Em|brace that great idea----.
Fun things into being.
Where you | take your life is up- to you.
1A: So, put a|side your fearful quaking
and dis|solve those mounds of doubts.
So, put a|side self-deprecating.
Don't | give them all your power.
(Music pauses.)
STUDENT (raises hand, then speaks):
Mr. Turner, weren't you working on a novel?
(Turner gives a sheepish slight nod.
MAC & TURNER continue.)
1B: Don't dis|miss your fav'rite passion
'cause it's | maybe not yet in fashion.
Who can | tell what brilliant concept
you may | yet discover?
Paint that stunning landscape.
Make your | symphony simply first-rate.
Who can | see what great equation
you may | yet uncover?
(CLASS begins to nod, as if they're getting it.
1 x 1, they join in until all are singing by the end.)
CHORUS B:
Swing to your soul's calling.
Em|brace that great idea----.
Fun things into being.
How you | live your life is up- to you.
INTERLUDE:
(MAC & TURNER to each other:)
2A: And one day | if that calling chang-es,
have no | "sorry's" for what's new.
Can you ac|cept that maybe change- is
a | life force inside you?
(MAC & TURNER turn back to CLASS.
1 x 1, STUDENTS begin to nod, as if they're getting it.)
2B: You may | hold a book inside you
or a | pettable potted chia,
or pro|gram insightful software
that the | world is needing.
Go make your connections.
Just say | "no" to those few rejections.
Just say | "yes" to ev'ry challenge
that you | will be meeting.
(Music pauses.)
GUY STUDENT: I want to be like my dad.
(Everybody stops & looks at him, unbelieving.)
CLASS (looking at each other): Now, that's weird!
ADEENO: Who wants to be like their parents?
(MAC & TURNER continue.
STUDENTS join in until all are singing/dancing by the end.)
CHORUS C:
Swing to your soul's calling.
Express your personal hue----.
Fun things into being.
How you | color your life is up- to you.
CODA:
How you | paint your life,
how you | write your life,
how you pro|gram your life is up- to you.
